Can't save my Crystal Reports in .rpt Inspector Professional Suite or .rpt Inspector Enterprise Suite

Synopsis
I am using the CR 8.5 edition of .rpt Inspector with Crystal Reports 8.5 installed on my system and when I click on “Save” or “Save As” in .rpt Inspector, I’m not seeing those changed committed to the report.

or
I am using the CR 9 edition of .rpt Inspector with Crystal Reports 9 installed on my system and when I click on "Save" or "Save As" in .rpt Inspector, I'm not seeing those changed committed to the report.

Solution
This is a known issue with Crystal Reports 8.5 (prior to service pack 2) and Crystal Reports 9 (prior to service pack 2). .rpt Inspector makes certain API calls to Crystal Reports. The API for Save is broken in Crystal Reports 8.5 prior to service pack 2, and in Crystal Reports 9 prior to service pack 2.

To solve the problem:

  • If you're using the CR 8.5 edition of .rpt Inspector, download and install service pack 2 or higher for Crystal Reports 8.5.
  • If you're using the CR 9 edition of .rpt Inspector, download and install service pack 2 or higher for Crystal Reports 9.
